      The Russian state has a rich and long history. Over the years, the names and borders of the state have changed, and in the political arena both charismatic and smart leaders and weak-willed or short-sighted rulers have appeared. Let us recall the names of those who stood at the head of the Russian State and whose actions influenced the development of the country. Below is a list of the rulers of Kievan Rus, pre-Petrine Rus, the Russian Empire, the USSR and the Russian Federation. On the left are the years of reign, and on the right of the name are the years of life.
