      Jackie Joyner-Kersee is widely regarded as one of the greatest athletes in the history of track and field. Her remarkable achievements, both on and off the field, have made her an iconic figure and an inspiration to athletes around the world.

      Born on March 3, 1962, in East St. Louis, Illinois, Jackie discovered her passion for sports at an early age. She excelled in multiple sports during her high school years, but it was in track and field where she truly shined. Jackie’s incredible natural talent and dedication to training made her stand out from her peers.

      In 1984, Jackie made her first Olympic appearance at the Los Angeles Games. She won a silver medal in the heptathlon, a grueling athletic event that consists of seven different track and field disciplines. This was just the beginning of her illustrious career.



      Four years later, at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, Jackie achieved her greatest triumph. She won the gold medal in the heptathlon, setting a new world record that still stands today.       Jackie’s dominance in the heptathlon continued throughout the 1990s. She won gold medals at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, becoming the first woman to win back-to-back Olympic titles in the event.
