He is an American molecular biologist and also an amateur bird watcher since early age.. His main contribution to the medical field was the discovery of double helix structure of DNA. He also made a lot of contributions to the medical field throughout his life. Recently he suffered from an accident and got a lot of injuries and his conditions were serious. He worked and researched many new things during his career in the medical field and gained a lot of progress and success.

Main events in 1953 in life of James Watson
James Watson was working with a team of professionals and discovered details about DNA structure. His academic paper was successful about the structure of DNA. In that paper it was proposed that the structure of DNA is double helix. This was a great achievement at that time as the resources were limited and for the first time it was discovered that the structure of DNA was double helix.

Main events in 1962 in life of James Watson
He and his team were awarded with Nobel Prize in 1962. They were given Nobel Prize in the field of medicine as they have discovered many important details about the structure of DNA. This was helpful for making different types of medicines which can give good results. Many medicines were made after this discovery and this was a great achievement which gave a lot of fame and success to him and his team.

      2007 interview of James Watson
It was 2007 when he gave an interview and he shared his thoughts and gave comments about race. Those thoughts and comments were highly criticized in the scientific community and he faced a lot of problems after that interview. He also decided to sell his Nobel Prize due to severe reactions from the scientific community as a result of his thoughts and comments about race and some other points. His reputation also suffered badly after that interview.

Claims of stealing on James Watson
He and his team got claims of stealing of work of another researcher when they put forward the double helix structure of DNA. An investigation was run and found that the claim was not true. The referenced work was not connected to the work of James Watson and his team. When they have put forward their work related with DNA then they got a lot of fame and international recognition and their competition also increased and many people tried to criticized their work as they were also working in that area. Some say that they must have credited other researchers as they have used their work. But these claims were wrong and they were not found guilty.

Selling of Nobel Prize by James Watson
James Watson was not happy with the remarks of scientific community and other people against him after his interview in which he gave some thought and points about race. So he decided to sell his Nobel Prize. 4.1 million dollars were received by James Watson as a result of selling his Nobel Prize and he also donated some amount for promotion of research. He gained a lot of knowledge in his field and contributed to more research and advanced knowledge.  He led the Human Genome Project at the National Institutes Of Health, a project that identified the location and function of all human genes.
